Kelly and Lee the Original Mary and Bert will see on Stage in August 2010

From August 24, the fans of Broadway Cast of Mary Poppins will have the opportunity to see the two performers who originated the characters of Mary Poppins and Bert in the production of the West End production, as Gavin Lee will rejoin the Broadway Cast of Mary Poppins, coinciding with Laura Michelle Kelly in the New Amsterdam Theater in New York.
Gavin Lee earned a nomination to the Olivier Award by the character of Bert in the world premiere of the musicals in the West End at 2004. The actor subsequently debuted on Broadway in October 2006 recreating the same character, which he led to receive a nomination to the Tony Awards and Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in Musical. Gavin Lee returns to Broadway directly from the North American Tour of Mary Poppins, having also led to the character of Bert when it began the tour in Chicago in March 2009.
On this reinstatement, the president of Disney Theatrical Group and theatrical producer, Thomas Schumacher, has declared: “We are very excited about that, finally, Broadway can see on stage to the sublime on-stage pairing of Laura Michelle Kelly and Gavin Lee, our original Mary and Bert. Their winning chemistry and star power delighted London audiences and critics alike and now New York has the opportunity to see them together.”
